For anyone who is fascinated by the Age of Dinosaurs, it is a must on your Los Angeles itinerary. The museum’s collection includes fossils and skeletons of the giants of the earth, as well as a collection of more than 35 million artifacts about the history of our planet.
Dinosaur Hall is the most impressive part of the museum as there are 20 mounted dinosaur skeletons and over 300 fossils. It even looks like the movie “Night at the Museum”.
Academy Museum Of Motion Pictures:
Recently opened (2021), the Oscar Museum was founded with the aim of telling the story of the film industry and showing all its cultural impact.
During the visit, you will see permanent and temporary exhibitions of several classic films and tributes to the most important artists of the cinema. In addition to the exhibits, the museum has two theater rooms, used for film screenings and other special events.
This is also where there is a bridge that leads to the Dolby Family Terrace, a terrace with a huge glass dome that displays a very beautiful view, especially at night.
Grammy Museum at L.A. live:
If there is the museum with the biggest award in cinema, it could not be missing the Grammy Museum, the most important award in music. With interactive exhibits, it is one of the most visited museums in Los Angeles, receiving an average of 1.5 million visitors a year.
Comprising three floors, the “Oscar of Music” museum is filled with costumes, musical instruments, recordings, video clips, photographs and much more. Something that draws a lot of attention is the handwritten lyrics.
The Hollywood Museum:
Since we’re talking about the movie capital, how about a tour of The Hollywood Museum? The tour is very cool and makes us travel through several “worlds” of cinema.
There, you will see up close several costumes and objects from famous movies, such as Planet of the Apes, Jurassic Park, Hannibal, Harry Potter, among others. For admirers of actress Marilyn Monroe, the museum has one of the largest collections of photos and objects by the artist.
Getty Center & Getty Villa:
Addressing art and architecture, the Getty Center and Getty Villa are a cultural complex that showcase the collection of billionaire J. Paul Getty. Among the items, you will find beautiful paintings, sculptures, decorative objects, prints and photographs.
The Getty Center was the first to be founded in 1954 and, in addition to the beautiful modern architecture, there are four beautifully landscaped gardens. It is located in the Santa Monica Mountains and provides an incredible view of the region and Los Angeles.
The Getty Villa is located in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood, in the billionaire’s former home, very close to Malibu. The site is a replica of Villa dei Papiri, a private residence in the Roman period. The garden was designed in the Persian style and has several outdoor spaces.
Hollywood Sign:
It’s impossible not to think of the Hollywood Sign when we talk about a trip to Los Angeles.
Present in several movie scenes, the Hollywood sign is one of the most famous tourist spots in the entire state of California and the official backdrop for the photos of tourists visiting Los Angeles.
Unfortunately, you can’t take any photos pasted on the sign, since the attraction is located on a private property that prohibits the entry of tourists. However, the good news is that it is possible to get very close to capture the moment.
However, you will need a lot of breath and a certain physical preparation, as the trail – called the Brush Canyon Trail – is about 10.2 km and an altitude of 320 meters. So put on comfortable clothes, appropriate shoes and go without fear. Have Fun ATV Riding in LA
In the end, every meter traveled is well worth it, and in addition to reaching the Hollywood Sign viewpoint, you will be able to see the sign from above from the top of Mt. Lee.
One option that pleased us a lot was to park the Motor home in front of Lake Hollywood Park (we put it on the GPS 3000, Canyon Lake) and take a short walk around the park. After a few minutes of walking, we arrived at a viewpoint with a beautiful view of the Hollywood Sign (previous photo).
Address: The sign is at the top of Mt. Lee, an observation deck in Griffith Park, in a private area.
